*Second time* Want to go on a Treasure Hunt???

Now it was our turn AGAIN! Time to teach our IPM  lesson to the 5th grade class a Bishop Dunn Memorial School.
We wanted the students to use inquiry based learning to search, analyze, interpret and apply information about Christopher Columbus. This was such a great experience once again teaching with my lovely peers Meagan and Faith.
We all worked very hard at making this lesson as effective as possible. My favorite part of this lesson was the treasure hunt bags where our students had to look at the clues in the bags and fill in a news paper article.

The students were really impressed by the pieces of gold that were in each of their hint bags. The students really enjoyed doing this activity and I believe my team enjoyed in just as much.
Today's lesson did exactly what our text talks about, we took concepts and facts and we sorted them out in a fun interactive way, while collaborating with one another.
Our textbook says students prefer group work over individual work, and they learn a great deal from their friends. I will definitely use this type of lesson plan when I am planning my own curriculum....The one thing that I wish we could have changed was the amount of time
AGAIN, we were not able to allow the students to present their articles because we ran out of time... It was still overall an excellent learning experience for all of us!
